Recitals

Two children and two recitals to celebrate this time of year (in the same weekend). First was Carlie's dance recital. The whole school year she's been taking dance lessons in Jazz, Tap, and Ballet at a local studio called De Pere Dance Center. She has really enjoyed it and learned quite a bit. Her ballet teacher, in particular, said she's really "getting it" - referring to the general grace and movements that flow in ballet.

Here we are in the dressing room putting on her stage makeup (pretty cool to a 9 year old!).

Carlie (on the right) in her ballet costume - warming up backstage. They danced to the song, "Reflections" from the Disney movie Mulan. The slight oriental look to the costume fit perfectly with the song and dance. Carlie had different costumes for her jazz and tap dances, but I wasn't able to snap pictures of those.

Chandler's semi-annual piano recital went like most of his other recitals before it: everyone impressed with his distinct gift to play intricate and beautiful classical music! He's only been taking lessons for a little more than 3 years, but it sounds like it's been more like 6 or 7!
