Broken Arm

Well, it finally happened ... Chandler broke his first bone (Carlie beat him to it over six years ago on her 1st birthday). Thursday, May 10, he tripped and fell on the playground at school while playing soccer. He fell on his wrist - iced it while eating lunch (the nurse had a nifty ice pack that strapped to his arm) - then continued on with the rest of his afternoon in class, never telling his teacher! After school I assessed it and concluded an x-ray was appropriate! The good news is that it's the most minor kind of "fracture" and a hard cast isn't necessary. He needs to wear this velcro-splint 23 hours a day for 3-4 weeks. Yay! He can remove it for showers! The worst news for Chandler is that baseball season came to a sudden halt for him. He had a hard time coming to grips with that for a while. However, if his team does well and his arm heals quickly, he might be able to return for the final playoffs.
