Girl Time!

Carlie and Mommy (and Rachel, too) enjoyed a GIRLS weekend May 18-19 while the boys went camping. Carlie was so thrilled at the prospect of having "girls only" time, that she mostly brushed off the feelings of being left-out of a fun night of camping. Every time she demonstrated self-confidence in being part of the girls group, Chandler managed to taunt her with something the boys would get to do without her. For example, Chandler proudly claimed he would get to stay up till 11:00pm. Then Carlie would waver, whine a bit, and then ask me (demand) if she could stay up late too. Ultimately, Carlie seemed sure that she was happy staying home with me ... IF ... she could go somewhere fun. Her request: Fun Cuts, a hair salon for kids. She had her heart set on short hair. I agreed.

We ended up having a great time together shopping, getting her hair cut, playing Go Fish, and eating Quiznos (one of our favorites). This first picture is of Carlie going to school Friday dressed for the day's theme of "Hawaiian Day". She was so happy that I put a fresh flower tucked into her braid (hard to see in the picture).
These next two pictures were taken after her first "professional" hair cut. Can you tell she loves it?!!

These last two pictures were taken after her final performance of the season with Kids Edition. They danced (and sang, too) on a nice stage at the local college. One of her teacher's helpers, Danielle (also in our ward and a former babysitter for us), said good-bye to the girls as she graduates from high school soon and goes to BYU this summer.

Wow, these pics really bring back a lot of memories because Carlie reminds me so much of you! (. . . your days in Stars, primary activities, our outing to see Peter and the Wolf with my mom . . .) Carlie is such a beautiful girl--I love the haircut. I love to see how your crew is growing up!
