Busy, Playful Little One

At 11 months old, Rachel is getting busier and sillier every day. She's always doing something (or making a face about something) that makes us smile or laugh. She's not walking yet, but she's crawling at near-lightning speed, pulling herself up to stand, and walking along benches/couches/etc. When permitted, she can even crawl up every stair to our 2nd floor (with Mommy standing directly behind her, of course).

One of her favorite places to explore is the refrigerator. Maybe it's just the refreshing cold on these hot summer days! She stands up and even steps up into the fridge - the cold piggy toes don't seem to phase her!

Rachel's favorite game at the moment is the classic Peek-A-Boo. She loves to hide her face behind something (her hands, a cup, a toy) and wait for a very long time while I say "Where's Rachie?" about 10 to 15 times ... and then come out of hiding with a big grin on her face. Of course, at this age, it's important to "peek" the whole time so as to know what's still going on around you (make sure Mommy is still perplexed). Therefore, sometimes Rachel barely gets her eyes covered, and sometimes not at all. Last week, she kept covering both her ears!

At the Knight's house in Park City, we discovered a baby walker ... and it soon became Rachel's best friend. It took her about 10 minutes to figure it out, and then she became an expert. She zoomed all over and even learned to go around corners, back up when stuck, turn around, etc. That's the beauty of having a large area with hard wood floors!
