Caleb's 6 1/2 yr Birthday Party

I typically like to keep monetary expenses to a minimum - usually looking for sales, generic brands, etc. However, I have decided there's a legitimate time to spend more money than might be necessary ... and that is for a young boy's birthday party!!! I'm usually fine with hosting a "home-made" birthday party, but when it comes to a bunch of 6 year old boys running around my house ... no thanks! Instead, thank YOU, Chuck E. Cheese! What a fabulous place for a party!

Caleb had a grand time with about 7 of his friends playing games, riding little rides, eating pizza, and of course, redeeming their game tickets for prizes. On the invitation we listed some of Caleb's interests (Legos, Star Wars, Webkinz, cars, art supplies, etc.) ... and each gift he received put him on cloud 9. Nearly every present he opened was a set of Legos! Needless to say, he'll be a very happy, content child for a good chunk of our summer days!

Rachel has recently discovered the art of television-watching (something she only appreciated in very, very small quantities until now ... like 30 seconds of Elmo or Mickey Mouse at a time). The major breakthrough came from BARNEY! She recently discovered Barney, since our PBS station just put it on their daytime line-up for the summer ... and she is hooked!!! She will sit glued to the T.V. for the entire 27 minute episode! (OK, a good mother shouldn't jump for joy over this, but hey - I've got an infant that sometimes needs my attention without big sister's "help".) Besides, I believe that Barney is one of the few shows truly uplifting and educational. Thanks to the invention of the DVR, we can keep a collection of 5 or 6 different episodes to begin at any moment's notice, when necessary! As for our visit to Chuck E. Cheese ... Rachel was thrilled to find her favorite friend there ...

Yeah for Chuck! Brent loved his party there too and Mom loved not having to entertain a bunch of 4 year olds 2 weeks after knee surgery. :)
